These are the New York state shipping regulations, limitations, rules and laws for the trucking of oversize and over weight loads over the roads and highways in the state of New York.

Legal Loads.
Length: 65’
Weight: GVW 80,000 lbs.
Width: 8’ or 8’ 6” on Interstate and other designated highways.
Height: 13’ 6”
New York State
Routine oversize shipping, trucking and transport permits.
Length: 100’
Weight: 5 axles 110,000 lbs. or 6 axles 132,000 lbs.
Width: 14’ and if over 16’ a bond must be posted.
Height: 13’ 11” and if over 14”, you will need a route/height survey.

Permit costs $40.00 and is valid for 8 days
Pilot – Escort Car Requirements.
NOTE: Police escorts are required for trucks pulling loads that exceed the following:
Width: On 2 Lanes: Over 16’
Multi-Lanes: Over 18’
Length: On 2 Lanes:
Multi-Lanes: Height: 16’ or more
Weight: 200,000 lbs.
Travel Restrictions.
Travel is permitted from ½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset Monday thru Friday and Saturday until noon.
NOTE: This State does have something called a “thruway permit” which can provide continuous travel. Inquire with the Department of Transportation and Trucking Permit Unit listed above.
